Nelson Family remembers Ryan Harner |
|
As many
of you know we lost a
valuable and dedicated co-worker in Ryan Harner on February 10th. I personally
would like to thank each of you who took the time to call, write an email, or
send a card. So many of you have responded in such kind and generous ways, Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with his family as
they continue in the daily lives without their beloved husband and father.
Ryan
worked at Nelson Equipment Co., Inc. for over twelve years and as I and others
attempt to take on some of his daily responsibilities we are amazed at how much
he was able to accomplish in a day and always with a positive attitude. |

Nelson goes “Bananas” for Security |
|
Dole contacted Michael Nelson and needed someone to
come out and design a security solution to their
shipping and receiving departments. Trailers full
of product come and go out of the facility all day
long and proper documentation is vital when
transporting a consumable product. The primary
problem to overcome was the lack of space to perform
all the necessary tasks required from security
personnel. A workspace was required out in an area
that currently was open to all that Mother Nature
had to offer.
That’s when Michael worked with a supplier to create
a customized security building to handle the
functions called for in the application. Due to
space constraints, the security buildings were
designed in a narrow configuration with rear
entrance doors, full view windows, HVAC units
mounted overhead, and roof overhang that was
modified so that trucks would not hit them upon
entry into and out of the facility.
The result of this customized solution was seven
security buildings that are self contained and easy
to relocate with minimal effort. These buildings
are currently in service at multiple locations
across the country showing once again the “can do”
approach Nelson takes when addressing difficult
applications. |

“Lean” Times call for a “Lean” Approach |
|
No matter the size of your manufacturing
organization, there is waste to be eliminated. And
that is what a LEAN approach does. It addresses
non- productive wasted effort and makes improvements
or eliminates them altogether. And the philosophy
is not limited to the shop floor. You can expand it
to the front office as well.
Here is just some of the ABC’s to help you get
started. |
