Regional Distribution Center Reduces
Maintenance Costs, Increases Security

As a regional distributor to their company owned grocery stores, this food distribution company new it had problems on its docks.  The existing doors in the facility had years of service behind them and the cost to maintain them had increased to epidemic proportions.  Not to mention that when a door failed in the up position, the facility could not be secured and when the door failed in the down position, the dock location was rendered useless.  Both are not good scenarios when you have trucks scheduled to be loaded and unloaded continuously during the day and every door is needed.

Thus began a process to evaluate a solution to the problem.  It was understood that a replacement door design was required that would be able to withstand impact from forklifts and have the ability to be repaired by the personnel on the docks without having to contact a maintenance person or outside contractor.  This company began by securing recommendations from outside professionals and Nelson Equipment Co., Inc. was invited to present a solution.  The solution that was recommended by NECI was the MxV door manufactured by DL Manufacturing.  The customer presented a sample of the product for review and then NECI along with other companies installed their door in the facility to be evaluated in real life situations.  After several months of evaluations, NECI and the MxV door was selected as the supplier of choice.

During the evaluation time, a special door requirement arose which called for the replacement of an oversized door that had to be powered.  NECI rose to the challenge by providing an MxV door design that would satisfy the requirement.

The initial contract award was for twenty-two doors.  Not all doors were the same size so Nelson surveyed the entire facility and identified each dock location uniquely.  The installation of these doors where completed in May of this year and resulted in an additional contract for ten more doors.

If your facility is experiencing constant dock door repairs, contact the professionals at Nelson Equipment Company.  They will set up a time to evaluate your situation and make a recommendation that will correct these costly and burdensome maintenance problems.

Powerfully Simple And Making Loading Docks More Efficient

LoadHog addresses the critical issues of general warehousing facilities at a lower total cost of ownership than conventional solutions.

Operational Simplicity

  • Operator steps on release pedal and gently pushes forward.

  • Lip is easily repositioned for end-loading using the operating handle.

  • Requires only approximately 38 lbs. of lifting force to store.

  • Maximizes security, cleanliness and floor space.

  • Has fewer parts and requires minimal lubrication at only two points for superior cost of ownership.

  • Operates from a standing position - No bending over required.

Minimizes Energy Loss

Energy loss costs companies thousands of dollars annually. At the loading dock, energy loss occurs as air travels out through the gaps between the mechanical leveler deck and the walls of the concrete pit when the leveler is stored. Conventional brush and neoprene leveler weatherseal is not a complete deterrent and is often damaged or missing.

  • LoadHog allows the loading dock door to be closed tight against the floor. No Pit means no gaps where energy can be lost.

Promotes Cleanliness

General warehousing facilities need to maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout their facilities. The loading dock is no exception, and LoadHog’s unique design actually promotes cleanliness.

  • No pit means no sanitary issues related to debris build-up or pest infiltration.

  • Small footprint allows easy access for cleaning and routine maintenance.

  • Because there’s no pit, spray wash down procedures can be completed more efficiently.

LoadHog is a simple solution that saves companies money…

  • No pit or concrete work is required. LoadHog installs on the surface of the loading dock floor and the face of the dock with (12) heavy-duty anchors. No concrete work means less expense and easier installation.

  • LoadHog has fewer parts and only requires lubrication at two points that can be accessed from inside the building.

  • LoadHog is easy to use and only requires approximately 38 pounds of lifting force to raise and store the unit. LoadHog also provides comparable working range and operational capabilities of a mechanical dock leveler.
