A
leading stainless steel home products manufacturer was faced
with compelling business changes. Recent acquisitions and
business growth brought a new product to their production
facility. In order to meet customer requirements in a
cost-effective manner it was decided they needed to maximize
production efficiency.
Nelson
Equipment was invited to present a solution that would
achieve the production rate they were seeking at an
affordable price. The solution that Nelson Equipment
recommended was a simple-but-effective system that
integrated a mixture of Hytrol Conveyor’s ACC powered roller
conveyor, TA-belt conveyors, ABEZ EZ Logic conveyor,
Transnorm’s powered belt curves, and some gravity roller
conveyors. The system was designed to effectively control
the flow of various parts of the product through different
stages of manufacturing and assembly throughout the
production area.
One of the
main obstacles that had to be overcome was Carbon Ste el
flaking from the conveyor rollers, which in turn
contaminated the stainless steel product that was being
transferred. To alleviate this problem, NECI had Hytrol’s
steel conveyor rollers replaced with PVC rollers that
were manufactured by Ralphs-Pugh. The customer also had some
“vintage” Hytrol conveyor sections stored in their warehouse
and wanted to incorporate these older units into the new
system. This was made possible thanks to Hytrol’s unique
system of always labeling each section with a serial number
and/or F.O. number which could be matched to the new
equipment.
The conveyor
equipment was installed by Material Handling Solutions with
PCI-Electric handling all of the electrical and controls.
Manufacturers of the system consisted of Hytrol Conveyor
Co., Ralphs-Pugh, Transnorm Conveyors, and Value-Guide guide
rail,.
The implementation of
automation to speed up manufacturing, assembly, and/or order
processing, need not be expensive or complicated. Let the
professionals at Nelson Equipment set up a time to evaluate
your situation.
